Where Should I Store the Wedding Dress Before the Wedding?
Most brides always ask themselves where they should store the wedding dress before the big day. You have spent several months searching for the perfect one, so if it were to get damaged a few days before the wedding, it would be almost impossible to repair it in time. So, the question is, where should you store the wedding dress before the wedding?
Bridal Boutique. Leaving your wedding dress at the bridal boutique is one of the safest ways to make sure it will be safe until the wedding day. Most bridal salons usually have insurance cover, which ensures that if the gown gets damaged in any way while it is in their hands, the boutique will cover the costs of repairing or even replacing the wedding dress. This is one of the safest ways of storing your wedding dress as you wait for the big day.
Out of sight, out of mind. After you have picked the wedding dress from the bridal boutique, you might be tempted to check it out occasionally. The reason why you should resist trying it on regularly is that you might leave stains and oil marks on it. Therefore, it is advisable to store it in a place where you do not have easy access to it. In such a case, you can keep it at your parents’ house. You can then rest assured that your mother will not allow you to tamper with the dress until the wedding day.
Controlled environment. It is advisable to ensure that you store the wedding dress in an environment where you feel comfortable. For instance, storing the wedding gown in the attic or the basement is a big mistake. These areas of the home tend to be musty and damp. One of the best places, if you want to keep it in your house, is in a spare bedroom. This is a good choice because the wedding dress will not be exposed to direct sunlight and the room temperature will relatively remain the same.
Mode of storage. The most logical way of storing clothes is hanging them with a hanger. However, before you grab the nearest coat hanger to hang your wedding dress, you must take account of the weight of the gown. You should check whether the dress has heavy beads and the number of layers of the fabric. Unless the dress is made of thin layers of fabric, it is advisable that you store it flat wrapped with a cotton sheet. You should also consider storing it in a place in your house where people do not normally go. It is also worth considering the pets in the house. They can easily soil your wedding dress, without you knowing.
